AS SEEN IN

I’m an Australian wedding photographer based in Italy, working across Europe. I’m not great at introductions - mostly because I never know where to start! But when it comes to photography, what I do know is this: I see myself as a collector of moments rather than a director.

Of course, the photography should be thoughtful and well-planned - but your wedding isn’t just an event. It’s the beginning of a new chapter, and it deserves to be captured in a way that helps you remember exactly how it felt.

Like the way your hands held tightly mid-speech. That glance just before the music started. The messy, funny, tender moments in between. My approach is relaxed and intentional. No rushing, no forcing. I want you to be fully present - because that’s when the magic happens.

"Daina!!! THESE ARE SENSATIONAL!! You've captured the most perfect moments from our day and honestly you a such a warm soul, we adored you. we're absolutely over the moon with them it has been so nice to go through them and re-live the day. We can't thank you enough for not only the great photos, but for making us feel at ease throughout the day. It was such a pleasure to meet you! We're currently trying to think on another excuse to visit Italy again, once we think of one we'll let you know when we're coming back!"

"Daina, you are amazing. I'M FREAKING OUT!! We are absolutely in love with you and your work and cannot believe these photos. I'm at a loss for words. You are the most beautiful person and your work reflects that - my mum and I were in tears this morning over having you in that room with us, it just meant everything. I'll never forget the little things, like taking my gum and helping me with my dress.  We really needed your presence. Thank you so so much, the photos are just incredible. I don't even know what to say. Thank you!!"

"We’re honestly lost for words. You are a magician - these photos are absolutely beautiful and we can’t thank you enough for them. One of the most special things about having a photographer is getting to see all the moments we might have missed on the day, and you’ve captured them all so beautifully. One of my favourites is my dad’s face as I came down the stairs, pure emotion that I missed in amongst the adrenaline of it all but will now get to cherish forever. I’m so glad you made the leap from corporate life into photography, because you’re incredibly talented behind the lens but also at making people feel at ease. These photos have given us something we can return to again and again to relive our day by."

"For couples seeking a photographer who delivers inimitable imagery while expertly capturing their unique love story, Daina Hazel is the ideal choice. She offers an experience infused with comfort, connection, and artistry, ensuring your day is both memorable and beautifully documented."

kind words

Growing up between Australia, Singapore, London, and the US, I learned early on what it feels like to always be moving — new schools, new faces, new cultures, endless goodbyes. Change became second nature.

At first, I thought I’d end up somewhere in the creative industries. But after a year at university, I pivoted and decided to study law — because, well, why not?

Fast forward a few years and I found myself working as a corporate lawyer at top firms and international companies in London, Singapore, and Australia. On paper, it all looked right. But something never quite fit. I couldn’t shake the feeling that a part of me had been left behind.

After landing the firm job in London — the one I was supposed to want — I realised it wasn’t where I belonged. So I did what most logical people wouldn’t: I quit, packed my bags, and set off across Europe solo. Along the way, I worked as a sommelier in Austria, taught English in Italy, then circled back to law (again) in Singapore and Australia.

But nothing felt quite right.

It wasn’t until 2022, after moving to Milan and meeting my now-husband Lorenzo, that things finally clicked. I found myself picking up my camera again, not just for fun, but as something more — something that felt like me.

Now, Lorenzo and I are married, running a business together, and spending our days photographing weddings for couples who, like us, believe in creating a life full of stories worth remembering.
